About Ben (On Trial 9/10/14)
Ben is a 12 month old male Mastiff X Boxer. He is a very quiet dog who doesn’t bark often. He is a very gentle and loving dog who enjoys pats and is happy to have a cuddle on the lounge or lay on his bed at your feet whilst watching the TV. He is great with children and enjoys play time in the yard with them chasing a ball, he seems very aware of our 3 year old and is careful around him. Ben enjoys walks at our local doggie park/beach and is a great walker on the lead who is happy to go at your pace and not drag you along.
Ben is currently being fostered and living with a large male Alaskan Malamute and a small female Silky Terrier, whilst he interacts well with them Ben is sometimes a little too excitable in play for the smaller dog and would better suit a family with another medium to large sized dog should his new home already have a fur-baby.
Ben is also currently living with 3 children, aged 3, 6 and 10 as well as a host of other animals, including Birds and Cat's and has never shown any aggression towards the children or other animals.
He is happy to spend time outdoors, and enjoys lazing about in the sun and spends his night cuddling up to our other dogs on his bed, however he loves his indoor time and should be allowed in each day to interact and bond with the family. He is not yet fully house trained, but we are working on this and he is showing improvement each day. Ben is quickly learning some basic commands such as sit and wait, he will need further training as he is only a youngster but he is very eager to learn and please and loves positive reinforcement. Ben truly is the most kind, gentle, loving, loyal dog and with one look into those big brown eyes your heart will also melt.
For more information or to meet Ben, please contact his foster carer Kylie on 0421776770. Ben is in foster care in Corlette, NSW (45 minutes north of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Ben's adoption fee is only $300 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire, in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
