About Freckles (On Trial 31/7/14)
Meet Freckles a 6 month Jack Russell cross Maltese; who’s cheeky, shy attitude and loving temperament is hard not to fall in love with. He is a submissive, gentle and kind hearted dog, making him the perfect snuggle buddy.
Freckles is very playful and will take any opportunity for a cuddle or pat, whether it be laying on your lap watching tv or having a sleep with one of the other animals. He loves spending time with you and will often roll over on his back for a good belly rub.
Freckles to play with his foster sister and brother Gizmo and Louie and this will entertain him all day until he’s ready for a rest. His foster house has two other dogs and two cats. He absolutely loves dogs and I believe, would be best suited to a house where he can spend time with another dog or two, to keep him company, as this is when he seems the happiest and most active.
Freckles has had minimal training and whoever adopts him will need to put in the time to train him, having said that he is an excellent student, responding well to food rewards and praise. Three days in care, he is sitting for food and is starting to “stay”. Spending a bit of time with Freckles each day to teach him a few things would be extremely beneficial for his inquisitive mind, as he loves using the time to spend time with you and is very eager to learn.
Freckles will respond well to someone that is assertive but kind to him to help him learn that behaviour such as barking, nipping when playing (just a puppy bite) with you and the other animals and toilet training.
He can be bit nervous when people meeting people for the first time, especially men or tall boys. He will often bark nervously, however he is not aggressive and soon settles.
Freckles has no issue with cats whatsoever and is extremely good at reading their body language, soon backing off if they are not happy. He is more afraid of them than they are of him.
He has also spent time people of all ages, including children. Freckles is fantastic with children- very patient and tolerant and would be perfectly suited to a family of any age or size.
Freckles is content to spend the night inside, without going to the toilet, and will go as soon as he gets on to the grass..
He absolutely LOVED being brushed, which he would need for his long hair so he doesn’t get knotted as well as a bath and an ear clean every now and again. He has been groomed and nails clipped with no issues.
Freckles would make the perfect pet for any family who is willing to put the time and effort in to make him the best possible puppy he can be- something he has never seemed to have had before. And believe me, when you do, the happiness that it brings this beautiful boy makes the hard work worth every second!
