Delilah *On Trial in Her New Home*

*DELILAH IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HER NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Meet sweet Delilah, she’s looking for a forever home where she can love and be loved; will it be with you???

Recently rescued from our local pound, where she’d ended up through no fault of her own, Delilah has settled in well into foster care where she’s enjoying being spoilt by her foster carers 3 school aged children. She is a gentle-natured young dog who can be a bit timid when introduced to new situations – when she first arrived in foster care she was scared and would get around by ‘commando crawling’, staying low to the ground though with some positive reassurance she’s realising life isn’t so scary. \ She’s still unsure of squeaky toys and her tail will go between her legs and she’ll slink away from them but with patience and time we’re sure this will improve too. Delightful Delilah can also be shy meeting new people but it doesn’t take long for her to warm up now especially if you’re offering pats and cuddles (her fave!) then you’ll have a friend for life. It’s because of this that we think Delilah would be better suited to a calmer, quieter home that won’t stress her out.

While in foster care Delilah has learnt to ‘sit’ and she walks well on a lead without pulling. She will jump up occasionally but even that is gentle and she’s not at all licky or in your face. She’s good with other dogs and is fine with the households’ indoor cats. Delilah likes to chase a ball and will join in playtime with her carers other dogs. She loves food and tends to scoff her dinner, but on the other hand she takes treats ever so gently. \ She is housetrained and well-behaved inside. Once she knows you Delilah is quite a tactile dog who likes to stand or lie beside you with her head snuggled into your lap while you watch tv and she’ll happily follow you around while you go about your daily business.

Delilah is not a “yapper” though will give a warning bark when there’s a reason to making her a good watchdog. \ She’s microchipped as a Rottweiler cross and we can see quite a bit of Labrador in her too. She would be best suited to an indoor / outdoor lifestyle either on her own or with another friendly dog if she’ll be without human company while you’re at work. Secure fencing and a good sized yard, daily walks, bones to chew on and lots of affection will make Delilah a very loyal and loving companion.
