About Rusty (On Trial 13/8/14) ~ senior boy ~
Rusty is a beautiful 11 year old, purebred Fox Terrier with pedigree papers. He is a gorgeous boy! He lived with his owner until she went into a nursing home. He is a very gentle fellow who immediately bonded with my old German Shepherd and was wonderful with my 2 small grandchildren when they came to stay at my house.
Rusty loves to go for his daily walk, and walks beautifully on the lead, and is friendly to any other dogs he meets. Small terriers often live to around 16 years to he still has lots of time to enjoy his new forever home.
He really just wants to be where his family is. If we are inside he will lay around inside, if we are outside he follows us around. He has a huge fascination with our free range hens, so we have to lock them away when he is outside. He needs a family with no feathered friends. I do not know what he is like with cats.
Rusty has his own lovely bed that he is quite attached to. We take it into our room at night where he sleeps all night until we get up in the morning.
He really likes to be around people, and not left on his own, so he would be more suited to a family or retired person/s where someone was usually at home, or had another friendly dog to keep him company.
For more information or to meet Rusty, please contact his foster carer Caroline on 02-4983-1748 or email moorefieldsfarm@bigpond.com. Rusty is in foster care near Raymond Terrace, NSW (Port Stephens, north of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Rusty's adoption fee is only $100 because of his senior status and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire, in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
