About Ladybird - Special Needs
Ladybird is a 5 month old Oriental kitten who is looking for a VERY special home!
Ladybird has a Cerebellar injury as a result of head trauma prior to coming into care. Due to this, her motor skills were quite impaired, causing her head to tilt drastically and her to involuntarily walk in circles.
Ladybird has been with me for close to 3 months now and everyday we have been working on her motor skills, resulting in a vast improvement, and now, apart from a slight head tilt, you'd never know she had a brain injury.
There has however been a very entertaining 'side effect' to Ladybird's rehabilitation, she has become obsessed with playing fetch!! Now when I say obsessed, I don't mean she enjoys the odd game, she is VERY routine orientated and MUST play fetch with her preferred brand of mouse toy EVERYDAY! Twice a day in fact, for a minimum of 30 minutes each time! This is very serious business for Ladybird and requires your full attention! It's not something you can do while you're doing something else, full focus must remain on the game at all times!
Ladybird is now ready to start looking for her forever home and it's vitally important that her new family understand that this is not an optional novelty, they must be committed to playing fetch with Ladybird a minimum of twice a day, EVERYDAY, for as long as she feels the need to play, even if that is the rest of her life!
Her new family will also need to be committed to staying stocked with her 'fetch mice', she will literally ONLY play with a very particular mouse and there is no negotiating with her on this!
I realise this might sound a bit odd, but Ladybird is a very special girl and we are committed to finding her a home that will respect her quirkiness and continue to allow her to do what she loves.
Ladybird requires a strictly indoor only home and would be happy living with other cats, as long as they don't interfere in her game! (she doesn't take kindly to others trying to steal her mouse!)
If you think you have what it takes to offer this gorgeous girl a fetch playing forever home, we'd love to hear from you!
Ladybird is in care in Croydon North
Medical notes
Ladybird goes to her new home desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and flea and worm treated.
Ladybird has a Cerebellar injury as a result of head trauma prior to coming into care. She has made wonderful progress with her motor skills and her injury no longer affects any part of her life, she is a normal kitten other than her slight head tilt.
Ladybird is obsessive about her games of fetch and this could be a result of her injury, but more likely just a quirk of being an Oriental, who are known for being quite dog-like!
