About Goldie the greyhound (On hold 20/8/14 pending ado)
Hi my name is Goldie, I am a purebred greyhound and I am nearly 5 years old. My nature is one that is gentle, laid back, well-mannered and sensitive. My breed is compliant with a personality that helps us adapt quickly to a new lifestyle. My quiet nature means I would do best in a tranquil environment. Greyhounds are also very intelligent and respond very well to training.
Whilst I am great with children, even young ones, you need to be aware that because of my frame I have little protection or padding from falling toddlers or extremely active children.
I have a short non oily coat that is easy to groom and maintain, being non oily means I am not prone to doggy odours like some other breeds. Did you know that greyhounds often groom themselves, much in the same way a cat does.
I am not suited to living outdoors as my body lacks fat, and my bony joints need a nice padded warm place to rest. I need to be protected from extreme temperatures, rough environments and inappropriate handling. I am housetrained.
I enjoy going for a daily stroll but don't need a lot of exercise. I always need to be on a lead when outside my yard. I also wear a muzzle when out because it is the law, not because of aggression, which is a common misconception with greyhounds. I am eligible for assessment by the "greenhound" program so then I won't need to wear a muzzle.
I would make a lovely family addition in a home without cats, and it doesn’t matter whether you are an overly active family or not as I do not require a lot of exercise, remember greyhounds are sprinters not marathon runners.
A greyhound in the right environment has an average life expectancy which is longer than that of most large breeds - 12 years or more.
For more information or to meet me please phone my foster carer Ewa on 02 4959 7648 or 0417690801 or email bwa@bigpond.net.au. I'm in Carey Bay, NSW (Lake Macquarie).

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire, in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
