About Paisley
Paisley is a very sweet little Cavalier who has unfortunately been very neglected during her four short years as her previous owners did not seek veterinary help when it was urgently required and Paisley has suffered because of this. Paisley's ideal weight should be approximately 10kgs but when she arrived at the vet clinic she weighed just over 5kgs which was half the weight she should be. Paisley struck gold the day her owners finally took her into the vet clinic as they asked them if they would surrender her and they agreed. Paisley is now on the correct medication and food for her health issues (that will be lifelong) and they are:
1. Diabetes - she is on caninsulin twice daily
2. Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency - she makes no pancreatic enzymes so Paisley is currently given Creon capsules every time she eats.
3. Paisley is on I/D dry food, \ 1.5 cups a day (we are trying to put her weight back on so this may reduce when she reaches her goal weight). Paisley did weigh 5.1kg she is now 8.1kg and we are aiming for about 10kg as her goal weight.
4. Paisley also suffers with dry eye and has cyclosporin drops once daily.
Paisley's daily maintenance bill would be between $8.50 and $11.50 but there would be a variation between actual cost and recommended retail as our PAWS rescuer Denise is happy to work with vets to get ongoing reduction in both the medication and food required for Paisley for the rest of her life.
Paisley has a lovely nature and is very adoring. She has regained her strength and energy and is now happy to run around but also loves cuddles and would sit on your lap all day if you allowed her. Paisley is a perfect little Cavalier but she does find cats very interesting and will chase them so a home without a cat would be best. Paisley would love a home as an only dog providing her owners did not leave her all day, or a home with another sweet little dog for company. Paisley's current veterinarian loves her and will assist with ongoing maintenance testing. We know it is a big ask to find a home for Paisley but there are a lot of people with very large hearts out there so we are sure one will step up to the plate and take Paisley into their heart and home forever!
