About Lucy
Lucy is a sweet and loving girl once you get her trust. Unfortunately Lucy was very poorly treated for the first four years of her life. Lucy was used and abused by a puppy farm who kept her locked in a small outdoor pen with little shelter and insufficient food while they forced her to have multiple litters of puppies.
When she was first taken in 18 months ago she weighed barely 12 kilos. She is now back at her proper weight, around 22kg.
Lucy needs a person she can trust completely, but at first she is very scared of strangers and takes a while to warm up to a new person.
Lucy cannot be in a home with children or other animals, especially smaller animals like cats. This is crucial. If you have other pets or intend to have other animals in your home then Lucy is not suitable for you.
Lucy loves taking walks but has never learned to play. When you start to run around or throw a stick she tends to look at you completely baffled. She will make up for this lack of dog behavior by giving the best hugs you've ever known.
Lucy is an indoor dog. She spent too much of her life alone outdoors so she is entitled to sit on the couch with you and sleep on the bed. She often prefers her own bed on the floor but would like the option at least. This is pretty important so if this isn't how you look after a dog then Lucy is not right for your family.
Medical notes
Lucy was very poorly fed for the first few years of her life so she has a slightly curved spine that seems to have no impact on her health.
Lucy has two different coloured eyes and one of them seems to be losing vision slightly but she has not been troubled by this.
Lucy is an anxious dog and will need a great deal of patience. We will do everything you need to support this transition and help her adjust.
Adoption details
All animals are adopted, never sold, and an adoption contract is required in each case.
We generally bring the animal(s) to you and reserve the right the inspect the housing and garden at this time. That marks the beginning of a 30 day trial adoption period.
We are committed to supporting you throughout the life of the animal you adopt, so we are here for advice or assistance where possible. We want you and your new family member to have a long happy life together so we will do what we can to ensure this.
An adoption form must be signed to commence the adoption.
