About Puppy Asha (On Trial 28/7/14)
Asha is a 14 week old, female, Kelpie cross puppy. She is playful but also loves lots of cuddles and a good scratch behind her ear. Asha came from harsh beginnings and is still learning that food will come regularly for her, therefore she is very food motivated which helps with training. Typical puppy, she is a bundle of energy.
Asha is good with children and is currently living with a 4 year old child. Since Asha hasn't had much training yet so she might accidentally knock over a small child when she gets excited so she is best suited to children about 6 years and older. Asha is great with other dogs. She is still uncertain about cats but I'm sure with more exposure she'll get accustomed to them.
She sleeps inside but loves nothing more than a good play and run around the backyard during the day with her toys or another doggy friend. She will need to be allowed inside in her forever home.
Asha will need someone who can give her lots of love and attention and ongoing training, so it is preferred that she goes to a home where someone doesn't work full time or where she has another dog to keep her company.
Asha is still being toilet trained but has made some good progress so far. She already responds to sit and stay. She rarely barks unless a stranger comes to the door or she wants to play. She doesn't jump up on people but she does however like to playfully nip ankles (which can be corrected with simple training). She is an intelligent puppy but is still learning right from wrong. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life.
Asha did not have a good start to life. Up until three weeks ago her life was spent locked in a laundry and being abused. But she is putting all that behind her now and with love and training she will be a fantastic addition to the family.
Asha's ideal home will be with someone who will welcome her inside and include her in family activities. She needs someone who is gentle, patient and has time to provide training. Although Asha doesn't mind being home alone, she will be happier with another dog to keep her company. A dog of similar breed or energy levels, older dogs tend to get annoyed by her because she just wants to play all the time. She loves to run and play so a big backyard would be ideal, or someone who can take her on regular walks. She has a lot of energy and will get bored if she's not stimulated.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire, in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
