About Dakota
Hi, my name is Dakota and I'm 3 years of age. I am presently at a boarding kennels while Linda is away and Julia and Gary say I am an absolute joy and they are quite in love with me. I love cuddles and get on well with the dogs on either side and have been perfectly behaved.
So no-one can quite understand why I am still waiting for a home when everyone who meets me says what a gorgeous dog I am. I look big in my photos because I am a little fat at the moment but am actually a little girl. I got no exercise when I was with my previous owners and quite obviously plenty of food. But I love to fetch the ball and play with tug toys and daily walks would soon get that weight off me.
Because I am a bouncy strong dog the person walking me needs to be confident and firm and I would be better walked in a harness until we get to know each other properly. I am very willing to do whatever you ask of me and just need to be taught like every young dog.
I was only on my own for 2 - 4 hours per day which suited me as I don't like being alone for too long. So with my next home it would be great if someone was around for the major portion of the day. Maybe there is someone out there who is retired or a stay at home mum.
I am full of energy, playful and will take as much affection as you can give me and am extremely loyal. I have been living with 3 young children and the family say I have been wonderful with them. Because of my strength it has taken the younger two (ages 3 and 7) a little to get used to me, but even the 3 year old now has no problem telling Dakota to "kota on your mat".
I love travelling in the car and like most Staffords I’m intelligent and crave attention. I will sit, stay and wait until told to eat my food. My favourite pastime is playing ball.
I am a beautiful dog who just needs lots of walks and some dog obedience training to socialise me and channel my energy.
Adoption details
If you think you can offer me a forever home please go to
http://www.staffordrescuevictoria.org.au/index.php/adoption-forms-6
and fill out the Adoption Request Form. You will receive an email acknowledgement within 3 days. If you do not receive any further contact after this please do not be discouraged. It just means that a suitable application was received before yours. We encourage you to contact Jan: jan.hutton@optusnet.com.au every 2-3 weeks to show you are still interested in adopting. As we will already have your form on file it will fast track the process when a suitable dog does become available.
Adopt one of our dogs and we are there for you for the rest of the dog's life. If you find you and the dog are not suited it is a condition of sale that the dog comes back to Stafford Rescue.
