Chromium

My name is Chromium and I am a special little girl looking for the perfect human to call my own. Don't let my big, beautiful eyes trick you; I am a fiercely independent little girl who knows exactly what I want.

I was born feral and caught at 7 weeks of age. I adjusted well to a warm indoor bed, plentiful food and the presence of people but there are some aspects of my character that have been deeply impacted by my wild birth.

I tolerate being picked up, usually when I am sure I am being led to better food on a high bench but I am not a cuddly lap cat. I like to settle down close to a trusted human so I can watch while feeling safe in a dark, secret place. I particularly like to hide under cluttered desks with a back exit. I am learning to accept pats from people, and even purr when receiving attention. Once my trust is earned I am more affectionate but I always need to know I can walk away at any time.

I am fine with other cats - even the grumpy ones who want to hiss or wack me in the face with their paws. A few days later we played tag and ate our dinner side by side. I am fine with friendly dogs; even the weird one who wants to give me kisses.

When I first moved in with my foster carer I was so scared that whenever she left the room I would wail loudly until she returned. Now that I know I am safe and I can jump up to get to the food I am rather quiet. Though offered soft, warm places to sleep I preferred to sleep by myself in another room in the house.

The perfect home would have a well-behaved cat to set an example for me. Even when scared I never growl, hiss or swipe so I would be a fine in a house with children old enough to understand why I don't want to be cuddled very often.
