About Willow
Willow is a little Shih Tzu x and was originally rehomed from the Pound but when she had a veterinary check it was discovered she had mammary tumours so Willow's adoption did not go ahead. The Pound contacted us and asked if we would take Willow and see if surgery could successfully be done on the tumours so that she could find a new home. We agreed and Willow will be having surgery to remove the tumours, a full blood profile, x-rays and pathology to make sure there is no spread of the cancer to other organs. We have had many success stories with dogs who have had surgery for mammary cancer and these dogs are alive and well living happily with their new owners years after. Just like breast cancer in humans, mammary tumours in female dogs are treatable in most cases. Willow is in foster care with a little Cavalier Spaniel that she adores and her foster carer thinks she is a very special little dog. The surgery and subsequent pathology that Willow is having is costly so if you would like to donate towards her veterinary costs we would love to hear from you.
Medical notes
Willow has had her first surgery to remove some of the tumours present in her abdomen and the results so far are pleasing with pathology results telling us that the tumours were benign. Willow's surgery was long with many stitches required so further surgery will be done to remove the remaining tumours in about a months time. The vet is fairly confident that the next surgery should have the same result with pathology showing the remaining tumours to also be benign. We have everything crossed for a good result for Willow who is a very sweet and lovely little dog.
