Abby (On Trial 30/6/14)

Miss Abby is a sweet-natured, 2 year old Kelpie x. Abby is a lovely girl who, at first, is a little shy but very quickly warms to you and is a constant companion. She is agile and easily trainable. She can sit and stay on command, and is fully house trained. She is learning her manners while walking, and is getting better with each outing. She is not at all food aggressive, and happily eats alongside our other foster dog.

Abby is an excellent lookout on the home front. She will only bark if someone is near the fence or comes to the front door. She settles very quickly when told by her humans, and will lose interest in our visitors unless they show her some kind attention. Abby has been around children of all ages, and is not inclined to jump on anyone. She takes more time to get to know male teens and adults, but once she is comfortable that all is well she settles down. Abby gets along well with other dogs. She hasn't been exposed to cats or other animals since being with us.

Abby loves to play ball, chase water spurting from the hose, and catch a frisbee. She is a lot of fun and would suit an active family. She even brings the ball back and drops it at your feet. I think Abby would absolutely love the beach or river too, and is an all round great outdoors dog. In saying that, Abby loves nothing more than settling down with the family in the evening for some TV time – she is usually the first to fall asleep.

Abby was very reluctantly surrendered by her previous owners, who had been owners to her mum also, due to lack of rental opportunities for people with dogs. Abby was surrendered with her gorgeous brother Einstein. She is the organiser of Einstein, and makes sure he is where he needs to be. They are wonderful together. They can be adopted together or separately.
