Luca is a loving and loyal young lady who is always available for hugs and cuddles! She has been with her foster carer and two other doggy friends now for a short period of time since being surrendered by her owner. She has come forward in leaps and bounds in regard to training and education. She is a very responsive dog who loves to be challenged mentally, and even though she is still a young dog she is very quick learner and retains what she has learnt well. When Luca first arrived she seemed to have had little training, but she now she walks well on the lead (requiring little correction) has done well with basic commands and has respect for rules and boundaries.

She has an old injury to her left front leg, and this has required some physio at home (under the guidance of the vet) and short walks with no strenuous exercise, until further assessment by the vet. The ability to flex the leg has improved and heat pad therapy and cold packs after exercise have improved her ability to walk without discomfort. However, this is not a quick fix injury as the process of healing and the scar tissue on her leg has given her mild arthritic changes which is so sad for such a young and otherwise healthy dog. Luca still really enjoys her walks but needs to be exercised in accordance with her condition. She has been walked for 20 minutes, 4 times a day with no detrimental effects on her leg and comfort. In time, her walks can probably be extended and the frequency reduced to once or twice a day, but that will depend on her recovery rate.

Luca has been around horses and chickens and although she is not fully trained to ignore and not chase; she has made huge improvements. Luca has had many positive encounters with other dogs while she has been in care and she has been a perfect lady socially. She is respectful of older dogs and behaves well sharing toys and food. She loves a good game with her foster brother.

In her new home, Luca would appreciate the company of another dog, preferably with an energy level to match her own and a special owner that is prepared care for her injury. She is a pleasure to have and has been nothing short of gorgeous since her arrival. Luca is a special lady with a lot of love to give.
