About Banjo (On Trial with the Raaf 3/9/14)
Banjo is a 6 month old, male, Australian Cattle Dog x border collie. Wanna play? Oh yeah! Banjo loooooves to play! Fetch? Bring it on! He also loves walks, naps and snuggling up to his humans. He is great with other dogs of all ages and sizes, his foster home has consisted of dogs from 5 weeks to 10 years old, from mini foxy to border collie.
Banjo has lived with 5 children from ages 5 to 14, but sometimes he doesn't realise his size and strength and can accidentally knock little ones over. He just needs some training.
Banjo has had some training, He will sit when asked and sits before eating and will not touch any food until you tell him he's a good dog. If he gets out of the yard he will come back when called. Being a young dog he will need to have further training. He is fine with people around his food but will try to eat the other dogs' food. This can be resolved with some training. When walking he whines and jumps and pulls, this will be easily resolved if someone will take the time to teach him. He will benefit from dog training classes, not only to help teach him commands but also to form a bond with his new owners. He is a quick learner and you will be amazed at what you can teach him!
Bathing Banjo is a breeze, we put him in the bath and tell him to sit and away you go....just don't have a shower before you bath him, he will give you a shower when he shakes! He also travels well in the car.
Banjo needs to be allowed inside when people are home. In the morning you won't need an alarm clock, because Banjo will come in and give you a good morning snuggle.....he does wait until the sun comes up though! His good morning snuggles have to be the cutest thing ever! Banjo would be best suited to a home with someone who will take him for a walk every day and take time to teach him basic commands. If there are children in the house they should be over 8 years old. If everyone in the house goes off to work and school every day then we'd like for Banjo to have another dog to keep him company.
Banjo came to DRN at a tiny 5 weeks old, his mum's owner couldn't keep him so surrendered him and his sister to DRN. In his time in foster care he has had some training and lots of love and is now ready to find his forever home.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire, in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
