This lucky pup has been fostered by a fantastic staff member & this is her report on Nell:
I have had Nell, and her sister, in my care since they were 9 weeks. I have found Nell to be a confident and calm staffy pup.
Nell has interacted well with a cat, chooks, ducks, horses, and many dogs both familiar and non familiar. She has been living with children (6-11yrs) and had many trips to the primary school where she has relished being mobbed by children!!
We have been training Nell to sit, drop, crawl, stay and shake hands which she loves as she is very motivated by food. She travels well in the car, sitting calmly but needs re-inforcing as to not leap out on arrival.
Nell has amazing stamina playing and running for extended periods with our other dogs.
She walks ok on the lead but pulls a little which will need attention, and she will walk off lead in appropriate areas. She approaches other dogs quite calmly and will recall away from them but this will need vigilance. She will pass dogs out walking and barking dogs behind a fence well if good focus is maintained.
Nell's main issue is that she can be quite vocal in play and guarding the home, she can be disciplined for this and does respond but obviously only when you are present, I'm currently working on some other methods.
Nell has good manners around other dogs at mealtimes and will go to her spot. Having bones with the pack goes well too, always supervised though.
Nell comes inside occasionally but prefers outside so she will need work on house-training like any new dog or pup in a new environment.
Nell's enduring traits are her friendliness, lying across to kids laps for pats and good focus especially when putting her lead on/off she will sit calmly. She also loves the water, the beach and river, she is a strong swimmer.
