About Missy (On Trial 9/8/14)
Missy is a beautiful, extremely playful, gentle giant! She is a Ridgeback x Great Dane and is only a puppy of 4 months old. She is gorgeously unique with her lovely tiger stripes and ridgeback ridge down her back! Missy is already 19kg and still has a lot of growing left in her. Because of this, her forever home is going to have to have good fencing and feel confident with large breeds.
Missy loves our 3 children, aged 4 and under. We also have a caged rabbit in the yard which she hasn't bothered with at all. She is very interested in a cats while on our walks, so she may not be suitable in a home with cats.
Missy loves children, but because she is a large puppy, she can be a bit boisterous and knocks them over when trying to play. It would be good if Missy's forever home had some older children that she could run and play with, who were very used to large dogs.
Missy is a very smart girl, who responds well to training. Especially because of her size, she will need to attend dog training classes to ensure she knows what is expected of her. She will do anything for food rewards and is eager to please.
Missy loves to play fetch and loves going for walks. She doesn't tug on the lead. She loves human interaction. She can be a little overexcited when you come home, but settles well once given some love and cuddles.
Missy would not be suited to a home with small dogs due to her size but she would love to have another large or medium sized young dog as a playmate. She would also be fine as an only dog. She loves her people so much she must be allowed to spend time inside each day with her family.
Like any young dog, Missy gets very bored when left home alone. She will dig gardens so needs a allowable digging spot or kids pool that she can dig. She hasn't chewed anything that she's not allowed to, which is nice. She will need things like a Kong toy, a treat ball and other toys in the backyard that challenge her mind and take time to solve. Be aware that she eats a fair bit so you need to be prepared for that.
Missy is a joy to have in our home. She is our big, adorable goofball! She is a beautiful girl, who with the right family and training, will blossom into a loyal friend for life.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire, in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
