About Chubby Checker
Chubby Checker came into care a complete, overgrown, neglected mess who needed a dental badly. When the vet looked into his mouth he was horrified with what he saw and, after quite a long dental, Chubby emerged from the surgery minus thirteen of his teeth! Chubby is feeling so much better now that his mouth is clean and he smells so much better. Chubby's skin was also disgusting and he was really overweight and very unfit. Chubby Checker is now on the Michelle Bridge's (doggy version!) 12 week challenge and the barrel is getting a waist! Chubby is also going for regular walks which he enjoys and is romping and playing in the garden with the other dog he is in care with. This dear little dog is deaf so that means he doesn't come when you call. It is also wise not to walk away from an open fridge when he is looking for food! Chubby often doesn't hear you come home and sleeps through the alarm so he needs to have another dog in his new home that can tell him what to do and warn him if needed. He loves going to the park and with training may be safe off leash in an enclosed park. Dogs who are deaf do respond to hand signals to give them instruction and learn quickly so will soon understand what you want them to do. Now that he is cleaned up, Chubby is learning to behave properly in polite society. He now sleeps quietly all night in his bed and waits nicely for his food. Chubby's skin infections and rash are all healed and he is much more comfortable. He will need regular grooming to keep him looking good. Chubby must go to a home where he has a doggy friend for company and he is a house dog so will require indoor access via a doggy door or similar.
