About Casper (On Trial 6/10/14)~ Loves the water, fun
Hi there my name is Casper, I am a 3 year old very affectionate and playful Blue Cattle Dog cross. My foster mum tells me that I am a real gentleman, especially when we are at the beach and I meet new people and doggies.
I love the water, the lake or the beach. Salt water is new to me and I’m learning not to drink the water, but I love trying to jump the waves!
My mum lets me off the lead at the beach to run with my foster brother and sisters, because she says that now I know to come back when I’m called and never run too far it is ok. I’m always checking where my foster people are though just to make sure they don’t need me to chase the ball or splash in the water with them.
I do like to chase cars though, so when a car comes along on the beach I have to have the lead attached until they are gone. I am getting better at learning not to do this though. I walk really well on the lead and love walks and I’m completely toilet trained, never making a mess inside. In fact I even know how to use a doggy door, although it is a bit little, made for my smaller doggie foster siblings, I still squeeze through if I need to go outside at night.
I sleep inside with my foster family, where it is nice and safe and would like to be able to continue to sleep inside with my new family. I’m happy to spend the day outside in a secure yard with plenty of shelter and toys to play with when my family is at work or school.
I’ve met my foster mums cat and although the cat wasn’t real impressed at me in fact it was quite cranky, I didn’t want to chase it or bark at it. I’ve also met a couple of little kids and some big kids and quite liked them, letting them pat and cuddle me. I’m not chicken or bird friendly though and like to chase them; haven’t caught any yet.
I enjoy playing with my foster brother and sisters and I’m always careful to be gentle as they are so much smaller than me. But it would be great to have a human foster brother who I could run and play with and be best buddies with. I need a reasonable amount of exercise or I will become bored or put on too much weight.
I like to eat my dinner in peace, but I am not food possessive and wait politely until my foster brother and sisters are finished before I check out their plates to see if they have left anything yummy behind.
Jumping is not my thing, however, fences of at least 5ft would be recommended and a locked secure yard as he is very loyal and may try to follow his forever family when they leave the home if given the opportunity.
You could consider me to be very patient as I have been waiting a while for my forever family, and will make a loyal and devoted family member.
My foster mum knows that it is only a matter of time and will be a perfect day when my new family come along and I can see me as being a best mate to a teenager. Enjoying all the things that teenagers love to get into. I am also happy just to lie quietly next to you while you watch television or just listening to you talk.
When a foster dog smiles, you know he is ready for his forever home and I smile all the time. A big cheesy grin that says I know they are out there somewhere, but I’m patient, I will wait for you!
I am currently in care in the Kempsey area so If you are interested in adopting me, please contact my foster carer please contact Marion by email mcrowley@comcen.net.au or by phoning 0413407738

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire, in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
