Trixie (On Trial 5/6/14)

Trixie is a lovely, 15 month old, Jack Russell x Shih Tzu. She is an affectionate dog who enjoys being around people. She is a small dog weighing in at a healthy 6.2kg. She is very alert, quite lively and loves playing with her toys [though she does tend to destroy them!] and loves to play “tug” with you.

Trixie is house trained and knows how to use the doggy door. She loves to cuddle up with you and give you lots of licks. She has a lovely soft coat and does not shed. She’s not fussed about being bathed but loves being brushed. She'll need bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every couple of months) to keep her comfortable and healthy.

Trixie sits for treats and comes when called. She loves treats and is responding well to training using rewards. She pulls on the lead when being walked and requires further training to walk quietly. She gets on well with our resident silky terrier X and another foster dog but tries to push in to gain attention. She became agitated during a recent violent thunderstorm and needed comforting to calm her down.

Trixie responds very quickly to kindness and settled in very quickly with us. She has never tried to escape. However she does not like being left alone and needs another dog for companionship. She will make a loyal companion for an active retiree or family with school age or older children.
