Ginger (On Trial 19/5/14)

Ginger is a beautiful 3 yo, female, wheaten coloured, purebred Border Collie. She is a sweet and kind little girl who LOVES people. She is currently living with a family that has two children (aged 7 and 5) and 5 other dogs of different sizes and ages. She gets along well with all the other dogs and would love to find a new family where she will have a friendly dog to play with. She loves chasing the ball, playing games and going for a walk with her doggy foster sisters.

Ginger would love to find a family where there are kids for her to play with too. She enjoys snuggling up with the children of our family. She has been very kind and gentle with them and she takes treats from their hand very softly. She will give them a cuddle on command and she thinks she’s pretty clever when she shakes their hand.

Ginger loves water! She enjoys the beach and loves jumping in the hose in the yard. She knows her basic commands of sit and stay and her favourite trick is to shake hands. Ginger walks well on the lead, enjoys going to the park and travels well in the car. She is toilet trained and currently sleeps inside at night with no accidents at all. At her new home she’ll need to be allowed inside to be a part of the family, and continue to sleep inside.

Ginger doesn’t like cats so she will need to go to a new family that doesn’t have a cat. She isn’t a big barker but she will let you know if someone comes to the house or if there’s a cat about!

Ginger was surrendered to DRN with some skin issues as a direct result of not being treated for fleas. Ginger is now flea free and her skin is remarkably better. She is missing some patches of hair from her back and tail however this will regrow in time. Her new family will need to continue to keep her free from fleas and be patient while her hair regrows and her skin fully recovers. She has a pink nose which will require sun screen to protect it. Ginger has a very beautiful golden and white coat that needs some brushing and a weekly wash. She loves having a bath and is happy to have a blow dry too.

Ginger is a very placid and patient dog. She can be nervous around loud noises and new doggy friends and needs reassurance. She is not a hyperactive dog but she will love to have a walk each day for exercise and will require some stimulation to keep her from becoming bored and getting up to mischief. This might be in the form of a doggy friend, a big backyard to run around and some toys to play with, in addition to exercise and games with her humans. She will light up your life with her sweet personality.
