About Hercules
Hercules or Herc for short, is a gorgeous big boy who just loves people. Herc lived with another bloodhound and a family with children before coming into our care. He was a loving member of that family and was never mistreated, he was spoilt rotten!!
Herc is a gentle giant who really does love people, going for a walk and of course pats and cuddles. He has had been a spoilt boy and in turn has had minimal training, though his learning very fast and is extremely clever!
Herc is toilet trained and is not at all destructive whilst left alone during the day, I'm certain he just lounges around in the sun all day!!
He has quickly learnt to sit and wait for his food and will sit on command most of the time. Herc doesn't jump on you though if you razz him up enough whilst playing he sometimes forgets.
Herc is food motivated and in turn is easy to train though you do need to be firm with with him or he chooses to not listen.
He has previously only traveled on the back of a ute and was initially nervous and vocalised while being in the car, though his already a lot better and now doesn't hesitate and jumps straight in!!
Herc is getting better on the lead though still pulls quite a bit, I walk him with a halti and he walks well with this though he doesn't like it and sulks!
Before coming into care Herc had never been on his own and the first week alone was tough for him. He is learning that its ok to be alone and to not depend on another dog or people. He still sometimes whines for attention though if ignored he doesn't persist and will settle himself.
Herc has been good with smaller dogs though when introduced to a bouncy dalmatian who wanted to play he didn't know what to do or how to cope with that situation and kept his distance. I think with time, training and confidence Herc would be great with any dog though at the moment his not sure what to make of bouncy dogs.
Herc is a large breed dog weighing 40kg, he needs a family who will continue with his training, show him new things and just love him.
