About The General (On trial 17/8/14)
This beautiful boy is a 3 year old, purebred, male Greyhound named “The General”. His short racing career ended when it was apparent he only liked the company of other dogs and not chasing the racetrack hare. He thought the races were social outings, which ideally suited his easygoing and very friendly nature.
Sadly this led to him having several owners in a very short time and quite serious neglect that saw him in a pitiful condition when taken in by his present carer who has rehabilitated him back to his current excellent condition.
The General is an exceptionally quiet, clean and extremely affectionate dog who gets on famously with everyone and everything. He is gentle and is most happy when in the company of people or other dogs of either sex.
He likes to play and chase tennis balls or other toys thrown for him and then likes to lay down and have a rest. He also likes a walk every day and but not very far as his greatest desire is to be around someone who loves him. He has his own bed, coat and water and food bowls.
This retired racer is now ready to begin the next and best phase of his life as a family dog.
Greyhounds are the couch potatoes of the dog world. They don't need a lot of exercise. Give a greyhound a morning walk then they're happy to be with you around the house or snooze on the lounge all day while you go to work. Greyhounds really feel the cold and looove their people so they need to allowed inside. The General will need to be indoors after dark, wear a coat in cool weather, and sleep inside.
The General would be ideal for a family or even a retired person. The General will be your loving and loyal friend.
For more information or to meet The General, please contact his foster carer Diane 0425200721 on or email dipamp4@bigpond.com. The General is in foster care in Salamander Bay, NSW (Port Stephens, north of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
The General's $300 adoption fee includes his pedigree papers, desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire, in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
