Jock (On Trial 12/5/14)

Jock's the name and playing is the game! Jock is a 2 year old Border Collie x Cattle dog who has lots of love to give. He loves to go for walk and loves to play with his toys, especially his ball and rope; he has even taught himself to throw it then chase it himself! Don't be fooled, Jock loves to play and go for walks but he also loves to have a good ol' belly rub and snuggle.

Jock came to DRN after being found wandering the streets, he was taken to the RSPCA and then came into foster care with the wonderful carers at DRN. He is a well-balanced dog who has adapted to whatever life has thrown him. He is friendly to all humans and dogs. The only minor issues he has is that he is afraid of loud noises, motorbikes, thunderstorms and that he does not like to have water poured on him, this can make bathing a little challenging but with some time and patience this can be overcome.

Jock walks well on a lead and harness. He will walk in a pack with dogs aged from 18 weeks to 10 years and from Chihuahua size all the way up to border collie. He very rarely barks when out on his walk, he can pull a little when he is not in the pack but again can be easily improved with training. Jock knows how to sit, he eats very well with good manners and has no worries if you are nearby while he is eating.

Jock does not chew things up, he prefers to play with his toys rather than your old shoes! He doesn't mind being left alone but would prefer to have a family and maybe even a furry friend to keep him company when you are out or at work. On the weekends Jock loves to go out to the park, beach or even river. He loves to swim in the river but does not like to be splashed.

Jock will benefit from some training, not only to learn commands and such but also to create the bond between his new family and him. When off lead he does not run off and will return as soon as he is called, If someone were to come to your door Jock will not bark and will not try to escape or jump up.

Jock is currently an outside dog but as the cool months are coming up it would be ideal that jock be indoors at night or have a nice snug kennel to curl up in. Jock would best suit a home with a young family as he loves children and adults alike, he would also fit in well with any other dog as he if very friendly and social.
