I've been adopted!
About April (On Trial 3/5/14)
Hi there, my name is April, or Apey to my friends. I am a 7 year old, caramel and white Border collie, and am only small in size. But don’t worry what I lack in size I make up for in personality!!!
I am a little timid around new people, but once I get to know and trust you, I will shower you with affection. I love being around people and am never too far from my foster mums side, I am her little shadow. I adore getting pats from anyone, and if you stop, I will give you a little nudge to let you know I need more.
As I am a mature little lady I have very good manners. I sit and wait for my dinner and won’t start eating until I am told I can start, I do however like to clean my foster brothers bowl when he is finished and he try’s to clean mine!
I love being outside and running around in the back yard and having fun with my foster brother, who is a Kelpie, but I do also like being inside and being near you. I have good house manners and love nothing more than curling up on my bed near the TV at night time.
Being a Border Collie I enjoy being active. I walk well on my lead and as long as you keep walking I will keep going. When it’s time to go in the car I get excited as it usually means I am going to the beach which is fun. I travel well inside the car as well as on the back of my foster dads ute. When we go to the beach I am happiest when I am swimming out to retrieve the stick you have thrown for me.
My ideal home would be one where my furever family has a very secure yard and is willing to allow me to come inside and be around them, as a part of their family. It would also be best if they didn’t have any children as I get upset when they torment me and pull my fur and tail. As I can’t ask them to stop, I have been known to snap.
I don’t like cats and at times don’t play well with some dogs, but it does depend on the dog. I love living with my foster brother and we play very well together, share toys and even beds, but I have known him for a long time.
I am waiting to shower my furever home with my love and affection, so please contact Chloe on 0421 669 884 or matnchlo@bigpond.com to find out more about me. April is in foster care in Cameron Park, NSW.
April's adoption fee is only $400 includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
