About Bentley (On Trial 27/4/14)
Hi my name is Bentley and I'm a male, Maltese cross, just over 1 year old. I am used to being an only dog, but at my foster carer’s house I have mixed well with the other dogs. I have a lovely temperament but sometimes I get a bit scared when approached suddenly, but if you take your time with me I will soon warm to you. At my last home I was given a hard time by some younger children so I have trouble trusting younger kids and would probably be better with older kids or adults.
I also live with 2 cats and 5 chickens at the moment and I don’t worry about them.
I love my walks and walk really well on the lead. I understand basic commands like sit and stay, I try to play fetch but after I chase and pick up the ball I am unsure where to go. But some of my other fur friends have been bringing the ball to my foster mum for me.
I am ok to be outside when my people are not home, but need to be inside with them when they are home. I sleep inside. I am fully house trained and will stand at the door when I want to go toilet.
I eat just about anything, I am not fussy at all. I like chicken and rice; and dry biscuits are fine too. I am quite fond of a pig’s ears as a treat.
I've just been to the groomer, which was great because my coat was too long when I came to dog rescue. The groomer said I was a pleasure to groom and really well behaved too. I also love a good brushing. If you want to make me yours, please understand that I have a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep me comfortable and beautiful.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
