Rusty

Hi, my name is Rusty and I am a very handsome 4 year old with pedigree papers. I lack experience with other dog although I have been fine with the dogs at SRV & Linda's laid-back female Staffords.

I am very good with people but a little hand shy if you touch the top of my head and may have been struck there in the past. Once I know you mean me no harm I will be very keen to play tug with you. SRV say I am a really nice dog. I’ve really come a long way since being here at SRV and love being with all the volunteers.

I have had no training and need a strong compassionate handler to work with me and show me that the world is a pretty good place. It's important that you are willing to take me to on-going obedience training to teach me some basic manners and self control. It will help me gain assurance and give me the social skills that I need. I need to be taken on plenty of daily walks under good control.

I came from a home with 4 children ranging in age from 4 to 16 and jumped all over them when we had contact. However I spent 8 hours a day on my own in a backyard and was not allowed in the house, so it's not surprising that I was really happy to see people and reacted in this way. I am good in the car and scared of thunder and lightning so you will need to keep me inside during storms. I am looking for a single dog home with an experienced person who will make me feel secure. I would greatly benefit from having lots of interaction with people. I need to be included in your activities and once you build my confidence levels up I will soon flourish into a loving family member.
