About Mr. Moby .. wants to be your wingman
Very affectionate and crazy about cuddles - the more the better.
Good off-leash, comes when called. Walks beautifully by side on leash - with or without halti (which I use).
Sits, shakes hands and drops then waits for okay command before eating.
(Mr. Moby eats very well, good appetite. Has always had a good quality dry food with a few drops of fish oil & a sardine occasionally. We give him a raw chicken drumstick twice a week and his teeth are excellent. Also enjoys raw or cooked vegetables and fruits like apples or a little banana as a treat). Naturally he loves bones.
Toilet trained and will let you know if he needs to go outside. Has never toileted inside the house.
Has never, ever dug in the garden.
Stays in his own bed, or by your side on the floor in the house.
Never jumps on the furniture. He loves a cuddle but won't jump on furniture or bed unless invited.
Sleeps outside in an insulated kennel and actually enjoys having his own bed & space to rest.
Good guard dog, meaning he will alert by barking if anyone enters the premises.
Lively, loves a daily walk or run.
Accustomed to regular baths and will sit in the sink to be washed or brushed.
Non-shedding and doesn't smell like some dogs tend to. Coat dries quickly. (Mr. Moby, requires regular brushing and approx. three-monthly clipping.)
CHALLENGES:
Mr. Moby doesn't like to share his humans. He is fine with dogs from a social perspective but doesn't want to share the spotlight at home. He wants very much to be an 'only child' & should thrive in such an environment.
Won't share toys with other dogs, he'll steal them and take off. He takes balls from anyone at the beach but will give it back to his owner. Most people don't mind at the beach or park, they find it endearing.
At home, not so much :-/. Mr. Moby becomes obsessed with balls and squeaky toys. He will whine and bark if you have a ball or stick and jump up to make you throw it. He will stop if give him a firm 'no!' but needs a firm owner who won't allow escalation of his obsessive behaviours.
Not keen on travelling in the car. Mr. Moby will whine on the way, even though he loves to get into the car because that usually means a big walk or swim at the beach.
He is sometimes sick in the car.
When tuckered out, will sleep peacefully in the car. Used to being in the rear of a hatchback, clipped with a harness.
Very needy, requires a lot of attention. Can become boisterous if not kept in check. For this reason, Mr. Moby requires consistency and discipline. He is more secure with boundaries and these need to be reinforced.
He is located in the Eastern suburbs
