About Snoopy *On Trial in His New Home*
*SNOOPY IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Meet handsome Snoopy! He was loved in his old home, though a change in his owners circumstances means Snoopy now needs a new owner to love him and treat him like a prince albeit a VERY FAST prince!
Snoopy has settled in well into foster care where he’s being shown the ropes by a young Labrador and a small Terrier. He knows “sit” and should learn other commands fairly quickly as Whippets are very intelligent dogs and are easy to train - but hate being disciplined - they just want to please their owners. He travels well in a car and is ok on a lead though could do with some more practise at this in his forever home.
From his foster carer:
"Snoopy is a well-natured dog, with plenty of love to share. Although he can be a bit wary of strangers at first, he really loves being around people. He is a little shadow who likes to follow you around and watch what you are doing with his big love-struck eyes (and occasionally reminds you he is following you with a cold nose to the back of the knee!). He also enjoys playing chasey and tug-o-war with our other dogs, and loves to chase a ball - being a Whippet, he is most often first to the ball, but he runs so fast he overshoots it and misses out on picking it up! He is curious around cats, but is not aggressive though he will chase them if they run! He loves to chew on bones, and is happy to share his food. He is food oriented, and does occasionally take food if the opportunity arises (ie: if food is left out on benches, the pantry is left open or if handbags are left on the floor...), but he is a bright boy when it comes to learning boundaries."
Snoopy is fully housetrained and needs to be an inside/outside dog – luckily Whippets don't take up much room on your couch! He is happiest sleeping indoors at night and has always done so therefore we would want this continued in his forever home. He will need a jacket to wear on cooler days as Whippets really feel the cold as they have little body fat (“thin as a Whippet!”). He hasn’t had much to do with young children so if he was to go to a home with kids we would prefer it if they were 10 years or older. Ideally Snoopy will find a fabulous home with another doggy friend to play with and lots of human company as Whippets hate not being included as part of the "pack" and are incredibly loyal and loving.
If Snoopy sounds like the kind of Whippet you’ve been looking for to share your life and your couch with then please download and complete a SARG Dog Application form by following this link: http://www.sarg.net.au/adopt-a-pet.html

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
