About Rex on trial in his new home
Rex is on trial in his new home. Rex needs a Special Home - this beautiful shepherd has been through a tough time and needs to find a home where they understand him and will consider that we are not all born to deal with what life throws at us. Rex is only to be homed in the Newcastle precinct.
Rex was cast adrift in a Sydney animal shelter and adopted and placed into a program where he was kennelled 23 hours a day and only given minimal human contact. So what does an intelligent and loving dog do to maintain his sanity he began to chase his tail. Rex became so bored in his compound he would as a stress release chase his tail and it became a learnt behaviour when stressed.
So when Rex came to us we had concerns that he will never readjust to a life without tail chasing. Rex has improved 100% but he does have the odd occasions when he resorts to chasing his tail mainly when placed under stress and he needs the company of his human pack or another dog to maintain his happy nature.
Apart from this he is a beautiful young dog who loves life and who will need inclusion in the family home and a friend to play with. Rex needs a caring owner who will ensure he is allowed inside to sleep and also not left for long periods.
If you are looking for a loving dog who is fully housetrained and who knows his basic commands and walks well on lead then give Pauline a ring.
Medical notes
Rex is currently located at Kurri Kurri and is living with seven other dogs and is social with all of them. Perhaps not suitable to go to a home with small dogs or pocket pets or cats.
