About Footloose ~ Special Girl ~ (On Trial 30/8/14)
Footloose (nickname Lucy) is a healthy, 1 year old female. Her paperwork says she is a staffy x although based on her appearance she looks more like a kelpie x whippet. She is a medium size breed, roughly 8kg and 20 inches from collar to start of tail. This gorgeous girl was born with one missing paw but as you can see she is still one very beautiful girl!
FANTASTIC WITH KIDS, has been in care with a 2 year old. Although I believe she would really like a home with another dog for outside play and company.
She has a beautiful short hair coat that is smooth to the touch. She is mostly black with patches of white on the neck and chest. Footloose is a very loyal dog with a very gentle nature and can be quite timid at times. Although since coming here into care she has shown some real spirit which is great to see. By the third night she was letting out a strong bark when someone came to the door. She has also shown much improvement with her toilet training but may still have a little accident in a new environment out of fear.
Footloose gets along well with other dogs, although an overly dominant dog would not suit as she will want to play. She can’t get enough of cuddles, kisses and affection so someone who has a bit of time would be ideal. We are teaching her sit, stay, come and lay down, and she even stops at the back door now. If you have the time Footloose would love puppy school as she is very bright and learns quickly.
She currently sleeps on her bed inside when it’s cold otherwise has been outside with the other dogs in an enclosed shed with bedding. A bit of a yard would really suit as she loves to run and chase flies and she’s not much of a chewer which is great!
Footloose was initially too afraid to walk outside on the lead but has now achieved so much, so this to be one thing you can keep practicing with her when she feels comfortable. She needs more training walking on a lead but is picking up very fast. Treats work well. She lies in the car but seems a little nervous so maybe start with short trips. This girl is very special and will be greatly missed by her carers and previous owner who reluctantly had to surrender her. Overall she really is a PERFECT family pet!
Footloose’s $400 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, and microchipping so she is all ready to go.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
