About Spencer *On Trial in His New Home*
*SPENCER IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Sweet Spencer had a shocking start to life as he was left in a box by the Murray River but lucky for him some passersby heard his cries and rescued the scared puppy and brought him to our vet which is how he ended up in our care. We’re not sure what breeds make up the little/big fella; he was first thought to be a Terrier cross as he was small and underweight though now that he’s thriving we’ve been referring to him as a “Mildura Special” and after much debate we reckon there’s some Mastiff and some German Shepherd in there – whatever he is it’s a perfect mix as he has such a wonderful nature! At this stage we’re guesstimating he’ll be Labrador sized once he finishes growing.
Spencer’s foster family affectionately call him “Podge” as he’s a growing puppy who enjoys his food (he tends to sit down to eat) and LOVES treats which he takes ever so gently – this has helped with teaching him to “sit” and as you can see from his photos Spencer does this very well! He doesn’t jump up on people or on furniture as yet though this could change as he gets older. This laidback cool dude is friendly and affectionate and is used to being handled (cuddled!) by adults and young teenagers. He hasn’t spent any time out and about on a lead as he’s not yet fully immunised so will need some practice with this in his forever home.
Adorable Spencer’s a calm puppy though he does have bursts of energy and likes some rough and tumble with the 2 puppies he’s in foster care with. He also gets along with his foster carers own small dogs just wanting to play or hang out. He has this funny habit of sticking his tongue out while he sleeps and sometimes it just happens when he’s really relaxed – it makes for some amusing photos! Spencer is enjoying an inside / outside life in foster care and is doing really well with his toilet-training. At night time he loves cuddles on the couch and he sleeps inside, preferably on one of the humans beds if he can get away with it!

As he’s only a young pup he will require ongoing obedience training as well as socialisation with other dogs so he grows up having lovely manners. Daily walks, secure fencing, bones to chew on and toys to play with will make Spencer very happy indeed!
Spencer would be best suited to an indoor / outdoor lifestyle with either a doggie companion to learn from or on his own but only if he won’t be left alone for long periods of time as he’s always had company.

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
