About Shelly
Shelly is a lovely little dog that has come from a difficult background as she came into care terrified and afraid of her own shadow you could say as she was so timid. Shelly would run for her life at the smallest noise or even if you looked at her but, with lots of gentleness, tender love and care, is learning to trust humans and accept that life with them is actually good. Shelly is beginning to relax in a stress free environment, losing her fear and learning to play but needs the space to completely lose her fear of people and develop into a loving dog with much to give. Shelly likes to doze on the grass when her foster family go out but is always glad to see them when they come home and is beginning to trust that they are glad to see her too. She is less timid than she was so now follows them around the house and developing the courage to come up and accept a cuddle or sit on a lap when she isn't snoozing on a cushion. She will always be nearby but at a safe distance! Shelly has no fear of other dogs, in fact she quite likes playing with them and also loves going for walks with a smile on her face and a bounce in her step. She enjoys her food and sleeps quietly on her bed all night. Shelly is house trained and needs a quiet home where she can relearn that people are kind and loving rather than a threat and feel she is safe with them so a home without small children will be best. Shelly would give back years of love and pleasure to a lucky family. Her coat is low maintenance and just needs a regular brush to keep her looking beautiful.
