About Alfie
Alfie came into the Pound in shocking condition and it took the vet nurse at Beverley Hills Animal Hospital about two hours to clip his matted, filthy flea ridden coat from his body and this was done under anaesthetic so that Alfie didn't have to suffer at all. Alfie had obviously not been bathed, clipped or flea treated for a very long time and he has only been on the planet for 18 months! We suspect he was a 'pet shop dog' (he was microchipped) that was loved for a short time and then, when his coat began to grow and he became smelly, he was more than likely put in the backyard and not socialised or given much human contact at all. Alfie, like a lot of the little dogs that we rescue, has adapted to the good life very well. He is in foster care with three other little dogs and is now playing with them like he has lived with them all of his life. Alfie is enjoying sitting on the couch at night with his humans and getting lots of cuddles. He is devouring his food and learning that there will always be something to eat when its meal time. Alfie was very thin when he came into foster care and is now putting on weight quickly. He runs around the garden, plays with his toys and loves his humans. Alfie has learnt how to use the doggy door and goes in and out to toilet. He would love a new home with a family who have older children (not toddlers) and will require regular exercise and a home with another small dog for company. When Alfie's coat grows back he will be even more stunning and will require regular bathing, brushing and trips to the groomer. He is a house dog and requires access to the house via a doggy door or similar.
