“Ruffie and Jazz have been the best cats I have had in my life. Here’s their story. I first got Jazz when I was fostering for SAFE. Jazz is the ginger cat. He has an amazing cat personality. He is kind to other cats, humans and young kids. He always like to be around me and others. He is very social. He likes following me around and taking naps next to where I am. Jazz is always relaxed and never aggressive which was great when I was fostering as he will make the other cats feel safe.
“After a few months of fostering Jazz, I was outside in the garden with Jazz and I saw a very skinny tabby cat looking around. I got some food for him but I couldn't touch him or get close to him. This went on for a few nights and with SAFE's help we managed to capture him, he was checked by the vet and did his pound time. It turns out that he wasn’t owned. I agreed to foster Ruffie https://www.petrescue.com.au/admin/groups/10195/listings/315304 in my house to develop his human loving skills as he was quite terrified at the beginning. The first couple of weeks were a bit hard for him because all he knew was being on the streets. He was anxious but never aggressive. With Jazz's support he started to feel more confident and very quickly he made our home his home.
“Then something amazing happened. Ruffie and Jazz fell in love! They very quickly started to be together almost all of the time. Seeing all that love is so awesome. They are both so relaxed and happy together. I didn't know that such strong love could happen between cats. Now Ruffie is very confident and he loves being patted by me and my friends, so he has become quite a social loving cat too! But Ruffie can get stressed more easily, so he needs an environment quiet enough, with preferably no other animals. I am very grateful to have been able to live with them. They have been so good to me, but unfortunately I can't take them in the next step of my life. My actual biggest wish is to find someone or a family that can have them both and appreciate their awesomeness!”
A few hours in a plane is absolutely worth it for remotely located animals like Jazz and Ruffie if it means they have the opportunity to be adopted. The total airfare for flying them to Perth is $100 thanks to QANTAS, and they can fly elsewhere in Australia too.
