About Gemmy *special family needed*
Gemmy was surrendered to Second Chance Animal Rescue with a terrible skin & ear infection which was left untreated and she had also been caught up in wire around a couple of her legs and needed to have a couple of wounds stitched up, antibiotics for her skin and ears and pain relief for her general wellbeing. In short, Gemmy was a smelly, matted, sore, limping mess….. but always soooooo very sweeeeeettt!!!
No one can describe her better than her foster carer:
“Gemmy is progressing well with her medical issues. Her leg appears to be much better, normal infact. She isn't lame anymore and can run and jump now without a problem.
No medication needed now for a few weeks and her fur is starting to grow back in all the bald patches! Her hair is becoming thicker all over.
Her temperament is amazing. She's extremely gentle and placid and loves cuddles and quiet time, and thrives on one on one attention.
Gemmy loves other friendly not intimidating dogs and dog friendly cats.
Gemmy would suit a quiet house (unlike ours! Lol) with someone who has older kids or better still, someone home. She’s so loyal, especially to one person, Gemmy would love another small gentle dog for company, as she struggled being on her own, so we've had to have her locked up in her crate whilst we are not home. She is fully toilet trained and uses the doggie door.
****Gemmy is crate trained and we require this to be continued as she loves the safety of her crate whilst you are not home***
We've been working on lead walking (as there's not much clue! Lol) and working on recall with treats and she's doing really well.
She shows me so much affection & is so loyal. Gemmy will be so much happier with a quieter, slower paced environment (maybe I could come with her too! Lol) Hope this info helps her future family; she's such a good girl.
Gemmy is looking for a family where she can be doted on and her needs met when it comes to being by herself. She definitely requires her crate training to continue as she actually loves the safety of her crate and she will put herself to bed in there if it is left open whilst you are home. Her skin may never be an issue again but we recommend that she continues on the same diet as the foster carer has tried a few brands and found that Eukanuba small bites does not cause her to have diarrhoea or itchy skin.
She still loves to play with her toys. She will need toys :)
