Monte *On Trial in His New Home*

*MONTE IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Looking for a terrific all-rounder who’s great with other dogs, cats and kids plus he’s a lapdog too??? Then you can’t go past Monte the love bug who adores everyone he meets!

Recently rescued from our local pound where he’d been surrendered through no fault of his owner Monte appears to have been well looked after in his previous life. This happy, healthy little dog has been brought up to have terrific manners and is already housetrained and loves spending time inside with you - he also likes to hop on the lap of anyone who’ll let him for some “Monte time”!!. Monte has settled in well into foster care where he enjoys playing with his foster carers own dog who’s a young, energetic Jack Russell cross. He adores children, just wanting to play or be near them but can be quite excitable so we would recommend he be with school age children as he might accidently knock a toddler over. He’s not bothered by his carers cats and tries to initiate play with them – he is really just a happy boy willing to please! Clever Monte knows “sit” and “wait” and he walks well on a lead though could do with some more practice at this. He enjoys his dry food, chicken necks and treats and takes them gently. Monte sleeps inside at night so we would like to see this continued in his forever home. This friendly, affectionate little dog would make a terrific family member and would fit in almost anywhere – he even travels well in a car and at 5 years old he’s over the digging and chewing stage; bonus!! Monte will need a secure yard as he can be a bit of an escape artist so would not be suited to a home where he’d be left alone for long periods of time or else he may go looking for company.

Handsome little Monte is quite low-maintenance only needing a short walk or a run around the backyard to use up his energy. Being a Shih Tzu x Maltese he doesn’t shed hair though he’ll require a good brush once a week and a professional clip a few times a year to keep his coat in tip-top condition. Secure fencing, chicken necks to chew, toys to play with and lots of loving will make Monte very happy indeed! Monte would be best suited to an indoor/outdoor lifestyle with the companionship of another friendly dog in a home where he won’t be left for long periods of time so he doesn’t get anxious.
