Georgia Blue (On Trial 23/2/14)

Georgia Blue is an irresistible 7 month old blue American Staffy dynamo who loves everyone. She is a very special puppy as she is deaf, and therefore she is looking for a committed family to adopt her. She is currently learning sign language (Attention, Come, Sit, Quiet, Stop, Good Girl) which she is picking up as she is very clever. Due to her deafness she has amazing eye contact and will constantly watch your face to find out what you would like her to do. She is little Miss Curious so she's always interested in what you are doing. When out walking she loves to watch and met every person and other dog she sees - she adores other dogs and doesn't have a mean bone in her body.

Georgia Blue loves to lay all over you and to be near you whenever possible - at bed time she lays next to you on the couch then she'll sleep like a log all night. Although a typical energetic puppy, she is also very happy to snuggle and laze about - and being deaf you don't need to worry about disturbing her with household noise.

Georgia Blue is in foster care with 4 other dogs big and small for playmates. She is used to cats and understands if they swat her to walk away. She loves soft toys, and enjoys emptying all her toys out of the toy basket and carrying the basket around. She loves to play chasings and tug of war games with her 4 foster siblings.

Due to her deafness Georgia Blue will sometimes bark to herself as she can't hear herself, or bark to you if she wants attention. Usually if you catch her attention and sign "come" to her, she will charge to you like a little canon and sit beautifully for a treat or pats.

Georgia Blue needs to be adopted by a family where she will be involved in their daily routine and where she will be inside with the family most of the time. A consistent routine makes her feel comfortable in her silent world. She would not suit being an outdoor dog as it would isolate and confuse her - she is very reliant on her humans and canine friends for companionship. She would not be suited to a lifestyle where she is an only dog or left for long periods alone. Being deaf she can never be let off the lead when out walking, as she cannot hear you call her back... cars and roads are very dangerous as she cannot hear their approach.

She would suit a family with a playful energetic pooch who is very tolerant and accepting if she invades his/her space particularly around food. Georgia Blue is extremely social with all dogs, and has no food or toy aggression at all. She happily shares anything she has. \

She loves children and is very playful with them. She would be better in a family with older children or teenagers. Older children can also be shown how to use hand signals to communicate with her. She is very treat driven which helps with her training and teaching her sign language.
