About Dakota
Hi, my name is Dakota and I have a sorry little past for one so young. I was taken away from my first abusive family and rehomed with new owners who have another female Stafford. I am well fed there but we are not allowed inside and at night sleep in a dog run.
Because of the abuse I received when I was a puppy I now crave human company and the situation I find myself in is not ideal for a Stafford anyway who need lots of attention and interaction with their family, let alone a young dog who is very sad. So the other day I snapped at the other dog over food which made my humans concerned.
Now the family are surrendering me because they have young children and think I might get grumpy with them too. I actually think if I was allowed inside I would be so thrilled I would probably lick them to death but it’s not my call so here I am. This time I really need it to be the right family.
I have had no training and at the moment only know “sit” so would really benefit from obedience work but the rest is just plain garden variety loving. Lots of cuddles and kisses and I will cheer up in no time and learn to trust and be your best friend. I have been around young children aged 3 and 5 years, love rides in the car and really enjoy being squirted with the water hose. I really like dog toys but get frightened if you raise your voice to me as I think I am in trouble. I want to go somewhere where I can sleep inside with my humans and also need to be in a single dog home.
Adoption details
If you think you can offer me a forever home please go to http://www.staffordrescuevictoria.org.au/Stafford%20Rescue%20Adoption%20Request%20Form.doc and fill out the Adoption Request Form. You will receive an email acknowledgement within 3 days. If you do not receive any further contact after this please do not be discouraged. It just means that a suitable application was received before yours. We encourage you to contact Jan: jan.hutton@optusnet.com.au every 2-3 weeks to show you are still interested in adopting. As we will already have your form on file it will fast track the process when a suitable dog does become available.
Adopt one of our dogs and we are there for you for the rest of the dog's life. If you find you and the dog are not suited it is a condition of sale that the dog comes back to Stafford Rescue.
