About Jack The Beaglier
Jack is a lovely dog but does need a home with no kids around and preferably an only dog. He is actually a very soft natured dog when in human company. He likes lots of pats and cuddles. When I throw 2 cushions on the floor to sit with Jack, he takes one next to me and cuddles in whilst we watch TV.
He walks extremely well on the lead and prefers walking on concrete paths to grass. \ I have not let him off lead because he always has his nose to the ground and I doubt he would come back when called. When he sees another dog, he gets excited and pulls on the lead but with a firm correction, he settles down and walks calmly again.
He does sit stays at dinner time. We make him wait to the count of 30 before allowing him to eat. He has a great appetite and enjoys some treats as well. He does not snap or grab food from your hand but you have to remind him to sit before giving the treat.
I leave the back door open a little and Jack goes out when he needs to toilet himself. He has never had an accident inside. He’s quite comfortable lying on the mat in our family room during the day and we keep him in an enclosed dog run at night. He barked a little on the 2nd night but has been quiet for the last 2 nights.
When he’s inside with me, he understands the following commands: sit, stay, down (he sometimes puts his paws on you and very infrequently jumps up) and come. \ For the most part, Jack stayed in our family room and didn’t roam around the house because we set boundaries with him from day 1.
