About Athena *On Trial in Her New Home*
*ATHENA IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HER HEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Meet adorable Athena or “Thena-bear” as her foster family fondly call her as she reminds them of a black bear cub! She’s a healthy, happy puppy who was born in mid-October. Her mum is a large Terrier cross while her owners assumed the father was a Whippet cross until they saw the puppies – our guess is dad was a passing Staffy cross.
Athena is a placid pup who has a friendly, affectionate nature and is very used to being handled (cuddled!) by adults and young teenage children – we wouldn’t actually recommend her to a home with really young kids until she’s fully trained as those puppy needle-teeth might hurt! \ She totally thrives on the company of other dogs and most of the time prefers to play with them rather than toys. Awkward Athena isn’t much of a jumper either up on humans or on furniture; she actually struggles to hop up on the couch with the adult dogs though she is going through that rather unco puppy stage which can be quite amusing to watch. She enjoys her food and has a funny way of sitting down to eat. She also LOVES treats which is helping with her training and she’s learning the basics such as “sit” and “down”. She hasn’t spent any time out and about on a lead as she’s not yet fully immunised so will need some practice with this in her forever home.
Showing no signs of dominance, Athena is one of those pups who are happy to sit back and watch – she’s not at all in your face or overly licky. Her carer has been working on her toilet training so she can enjoy spending time indoors with the family (she sleeps inside at night) though she also loves being outside exploring the yard or just soaking up the sunshine. She’s not really into water though during our recent spate of 40 degree days she had a ball in her carers puppy pool! Athena adores pats and snuggles and her fur is like black velvet and oh so soft to touch. \ The funniest thing about Athena would have to be her bark which comes out as a high pitched squeak which doesn’t suit her size at all; we’re hoping it deepens as she gets older.

As she’s only a young pup she will require ongoing obedience training as well as socialisation with other dogs so she grows up having lovely manners. \ Daily walks or runs around the backyard, secure fencing, bones to chew on and toys to play with will make Athena very happy indeed!
As Athena is doing really well with her toilet training she would be best suited to an indoor / outdoor lifestyle with a friendly dog to hang out with and learn from.

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
