Simba (On Trial 29/1/14)

Introducing Simba, a beautiful 7 year old, purebred Miniature Poodle. He is a small medium sized dog, weighing a little over 11 kgs. He has a very loving, affectionate nature, loves cuddles and just being with you. He is friendly and social with other dogs and good with children, though it would be better if the children were over 6 years of age. I do not know how he is with cats as I don’t have one.

Simba is primarily an indoor dog with access to the back yard. He is house trained and able to use a doggy door. He loves going for walks and drives in the car and becomes very excited when harness and leash appear. He recently completed a dog training class. He learned to walk nicely on lead without pulling, come when called, sit, stand, drop, and wait. He did very well in the class. He is not a nuisance barker, but will let you know if there is someone at the door. He has a good appetite and is not a fussy eater.

I have been at home most of the time with him, but when I have gone out, I have not noticed any separation anxiety or other issues. He is a playful dog, but not at all destructive. At my house Simba has been living with 2 other poodles and likes their company. He would enjoy a doggie companion in his forever home. However, if he was given plenty of attention, regular walks and not left alone for long periods, he would be ok as an only dog.

Simba is a very gorgeous dog. He has very striking golden eyes. He has a beautiful, chocolate coloured coat which doesn't shed. He needs regular brushing (every day or two, depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 6 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful. Clipping will cost around $60 so you should be prepared for this if you want a poodle.

Simba was surrendered because he was lonely outside and he was scratching at the door to come inside. We never want him to be alone and isolated again. In his new home, he must be allowed inside and to sleep inside and welcome to join in family activities, including just hanging out and watching TV. At my place, he has been very happy sleeping in his own bed in my bedroom. I can't say enough great things about Simba. I will be sad to let him go but I know he will makes some lucky family or individual extremely happy.
