About Poppy (On Trial 18/4/14)
Poppy is a 2 yo female, German Shepherd x Cattle Dog. She LOVES to swim and on a hot day spends the whole day in the shell pool. We took her to the river with our dogs and she had a ball. She walks well on a lead. She is house trained and will let you know when she needs to go out.
Poppy is an active young dog so so she will need an new owner who can give her a walk or run every day. She would love some off lead time on weekends for extra fun. She is a smart girl and dog training lessons would challenge her mind and she would do well.
Poppy eats well with our dogs, but she can be a little too over excited and jump all over them which ends in a wrestle. Poppy is very shy of men, and does get nippy with them – however she has taken to my fiancé and just loves him. So Poppy isn't suitable to a family with children under around 12.
Poppy is very loyal and will let you know when someone comes near the yard.
For more information or to meet Poppy please phone foster carer Amanda on 0403 197 648 or email amandalwhittington@live.com.au. Poppy is in foster care in Rutherford, NSW (30 mins NW of Newcastle).
Poppy's $200 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
