About Penny
Hi, my name is Penny and I am a beautiful pedigree liver girl. I was brought up since a pup by a my lady owner and have lived with young children from newborn up to a 10 year old and am really good with the kids. I have also been known to give a sniff and a quick lick to the occupant of the pram. However I am strong and energetic and am a little rough when I play with the younger ones so I need to be watched with them.
There are also 2 cats and a bunny where I live and given the opportunity I would chase them and have a wonderful time, so it's fair to say that I am probably best suited to a home with just dogs. It's not that I have a mean temperament but the thrill of the chase is just too strong.
I get on well with dogs and sleep and play with a maltese. I am the dominant one although I let him "win" sometimes when we play fight. I love swimming and can be trusted to be off-lead at a dog beach and get on well with all the rest of the pack while we frolic around.
If strangers visit I will bark and let my family know. To people I have met before they are greeted with a wagging tail and a request for a pat. I know basic commands such as sit, come, get the ball (and yes I will find it), and I know "stay" but don't always like to do it. I am told I am a little guts with food and will try and steal the contents of the other dogs' bowl in a sneaky way if I think no-one is watching and I can get away with it. I am a boistrous girl and enjoy playing ball immensely, especially with the "staffy ball".
Above all I am very affectionate and love to be cuddled. I will sit there for cuddles as long as you are willing to dish them out.
My owner passed away and since then her family have kindly looked after me but they are now moving interstate and feel that I need more exercise and training than they are able to give me. This is is a sad parting of ways and in their words " She is a beautiful dog and we all love her and wish we could take care of her like she deserves. They just want the best possible outcome for me.
So that is a little background and I hope it is enough for you to want to come and meet me.
Adoption details
If you think you can offer me a forever home please go to http://www.staffordrescuevictoria.org.au/index.php/adoption and fill out an Adoption Request Form. You will receive an email acknowledgement within 3 days. If you do not receive any further contact after this please do not be discouraged. It just means that a suitable application was received before yours. We encourage you to contact Jan: jan.hutton@optusnet.com.au every 3-4 weeks to show you are still interested in adopting. As we will already have your form on file it will fast track the process when a suitable dog does become available.
Adopt one of our dogs and we are there for you for the rest of the dog's life. If you find you and the dog are not suited it is a condition of sale that the dog comes back to Stafford Rescue.
