About Benny (on trial 20/6/14)
Benny is a Maltese X approximately 4 years old. He is quiet and very gentle. He just likes to be near you and follow you around. He loves his back and tummy rubbed. As long as you give him plenty of TLC he will be your companion forever. He loves people, is very loyal to his owner, and gets on well with all the other little foster dogs I have had. Benny is not a barker and loves short walks in the park. He rides in the car well and is friendly to everyone he meets.
Benny his left eye due to an altercation with another dog a couple of years ago. It was so badly damaged it had to be removed, but it doesn't hinder him in any way.
Benny came to me 12 months ago with an ear infection. It was misdiagnosed a couple of times but now that he has received the correct diagnosis and treatment it has cleared up and his ear has been normal for the past 2 months. It's really important that you keep his ears clean with a inexpensive saline wash every 3rd day to ensure it doesn't come back. This is quick and simple to do and Benny is certainly well worth it.
Benny is house trained and uses a doggie door and sleeps inside. He is an inside dog. I brush his coat a couple of times a week as his beautiful, pure white coat is very thick. He doesn't shed so he needs regular brushing, bathing and clipping.
So we are looking for a kind and loving person who is home most of the time and who needs a companion, and who will take the time to inspect and wash his ears. Even though he gets on well with children he doesn't play with them, so he would not be a good dog for children. He'd be a lovely companion for another small dog. We would like Benny to stay in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie area so that if he needs any further vet treatment it can be done at one of our approved vets. Thank you.
For more information or to meet Benny please phone foster carer Don on 0448 552 050 or email v8supercarrick@hotmail.com. Benny is in foster care in Edgeworth, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle).
Benny's $300 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
