About Luke (On Trial 3/1/13)
Luke is a 3 year old loveable Labrador x Retriever and a real goofball. He is a big boy, 40+kg who loves to run and chase a ball. He is really friendly toward kids, adults and other dogs. Luke loves to play or wanders around the yard following you. He can also often be found lying in a cool spot in the garden having a snooze (typical lab).
His favourite things are playing fetch and water. Luke adores water! He loves going to the beach for a swim or getting into his clam pool and splashing as much water out of it as he can. He can even retrieve a toy from underwater. When playing fetch Luke drops the ball near you ready for the next throw, and when he looks at you with those big brown eyes you can guarantee there’ll be another throw. Between the dazzling eyes and adorable head tilt it’s hard to say no to this gorgeous boy.
Luke will come when called and can follow the basic commands of sit, shake hands, down and roll over. He really enjoys roll over because it is usually followed by a belly rub. He is a very affectionate boy and loves to be patted and cuddled.
Luke is well behaved indoors and is happy to sit at your feet or share the lounge if invited. He sleeps happily outdoors and rarely barks but loves having indoor time when his family are home.
Luke loves going for a walk to see new places and meet new people or possible playmates. Because he is a strong boy I use a haltie collar. This helps to make the daily walk a very pleasant experience without him pulling. He will require ongoing training to allow him to reach his full potential. Luke likes to please and responds very well to positive reinforcement and treats. He is a Labrador after all!
Luke would make a wonderful family pet or be a great mate for a single person or a couple. He is a tall, strong boy and will need someone willing to commit to him for life. Luke deserves to have a loving forever home where he can share his warmth and affection and be loved in return for the rest of his life.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
