Kenny *On Trial in His New Home*

*KENNY IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME* This gorgeous pup was lucky to be found as he’d been dumped in the bush in a styrofoam box and it was thanks to a passing dirt bike rider that he was discovered and taken to some caring samaritans who then contacted us SARG folk as they knew immediate vet care was needed for the flea-riddled, emaciated fella. He then spent two weeks at our vets on a drip fighting to stay alive and being fed via a tracheostomy tube as he was just too sick to eat – this battle was shared on our Facebook page and our community got behind him sending daily words of encouragement as well as desperately needed donations. It was during his vet stay that one of the nurses named him “Kenny” which suits this little Aussie battler!

A month down the track and Kenny is thriving in foster care where he has almost doubled in weight and is learning how to “sit”. He is crate-trained and sleeps in his crate in the laundry at night and will often take himself off to his crate during the day for a well-deserved puppy nap. Kenny hasn’t spent much time on a lead so will need some practice with that in his forever home but he’s a bright little boy so we reckon he’ll get the hang of it quickly. He enjoys a play with his carer’s own Staffys and isn’t fazed by the household cats. He also loves just chilling on the couch with the family while they watch tv at night lapping up pats and cuddles.

The breeds that make up Kenny are debateable – our vets thought they could see Ridgeback in him when he first arrived in hospital and perhaps some Staffy and since being in foster care his carer thinks he may have some Kelpie in him too though only a DNA test will tell – whatever he is it’s a lovely mix!

As he’s only a young pup Kenny will require ongoing obedience training as well as socialisation with other dogs so he grows up to have lovely manners. Daily walks, secure fencing, bones to chew on and toys to keep this friendly pup stimulated are also a necessity so he doesn’t get bored and up to mischief!

Kenny would be best suited to an indoor / outdoor lifestyle with either a doggie companion to learn from or on his own but only if he won’t be left alone for long periods of time as he’s used to having doggie company as a minimum.
