About Merlin - Special Needs
Dear little Merlin is in search of a very special home that will accept him for who he is, while also helping him become the best little dog he can be.
Merlin began life as a happy, carefree boy, but this changed when he was callously set upon by a group of teens who viciously kicked and beat him. This was of course terribly emotionally traumatising for Merlin, and affected his temperament and personality.
He is still at heart a darling little boy who loves affection and human interaction, but he will need a very understanding home that will give him the time and support to adjust and settle, and will be respectful of his boundaries in the mean time. Merlin takes time to warm to new people, particularly males and is sensitive about being touched around his back end. He doesn't like to be picked up and has some issues with being groomed/medicated etc which require these things to be done by professional groomers/vets.
Merlin is however good with other dogs, though can be a bit reluctant to share his food with others and is fine with cats. He loves to play chasey and fetch and play with toys and once comfortable with someone, enjoys pats and attention.
Merlin would ideally be suited to a mature single or couple with some experience in behavioral training and a willingness to continue to work with him. He is not suitable for a home with children.
In the right home, with the understanding and support he needs, Merlin has the potential to blossom. We are dearly hoping that home is out there to help him achieve this.
Merlin is located in Macclesfield
Medical notes
Merlin goes to his new home desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated and professionally clipped.
