About Odin *On Trial in His New Home*
*ODIN IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME* Hello there, my name is Odin and I am a beautiful big Greyhound boy looking for my forever home! I have had enough of racing and now want to retire to a life of being a renowned coach potato! (Even though I still love my zoomies around the backyard!). I was a loved boy in my old home but after an injury I just didn’t want to race anymore though that doesn’t stop me from running around with my doggie and human friends. \ As I was a racing boy I never had a name, but I am slowly learning my new one - I am a good boy and am learning fast!
I love to play with other dogs; I have met so many since being with my foster mum and I race around and play for hours with them. I always love a big sleep afterwards on a nice comfy bed ready to play again later! My foster mum thinks I am pretty amusing how I sleep in very funny positions with my legs right up in the air (I am a real bed hog!). I would love a home with another doggie friend that I can play and cuddle with and lots of people to give me loads of attention! Most of the time I like to sleep but when I am awake I love a pat and cuddle with my humans and puppy friends! I have not been tested with cats so I’m not sure if I would like them or not.
I enjoy going for drives in the car and sticking my head out the window to feel the wind in my face! My favourite place to drive to is the river as I LOVE to swim and play in the water and on the sandbar! \ I have a little sea shell at my foster mums full of water that I dip my paws in all the time. I am a good boy and don’t try and run away, but because I am a racer if I see a bunny rabbit I will run like crazy after him and I might get hurt so I have to be on my lead when I’m not somewhere safe.
I need to be an outdoor/indoor dog because I don’t have any body fat to keep me warm in the cold (I’ll need a jacket in the winter) and I get hot pretty easy. I like a nice comfy bed on the floor or even better I love a couch where I can laze around! I am toilet-trained and can hang on all night without having an accident. My foster mum says I learn things very quickly with some positive reinforcement (I don’t like discipline, I respond a lot better to lots of love and encouragement), a simple ‘uh-uh’ when I am doing something naughty makes me stop very quickly as I am a really good listener. They say it also helps that I now know my new name and respond to it!
I am fantastic with kids and I would be great in a family home. In my old home a 3-year old used to walk me my on my lead as I am very gentle and placid. I am a very very good boy on a lead; I love to sniff, I stop when you stop and I never pull. I enjoy my daily walk and most of all I love a run! My body is built for speed not for endurance so I don’t need a very big walk to keep me happy. I get very excited when my family comes home no matter how long you are gone for! (I don’t like being left alone for a long time). I also love my food especially fresh meat - I have tried lots of other doggie treats but fresh meat, pasta and rice are definitely my favourites!
I would love to be a part of a loving home who will love me as much as I will love them! I am a very loyal, placid and absolutely beautiful boy who is looking to share my life (and your couch!) forever after, so if I sound like a perfect match for your household then please download and complete a SARG Dog Application form by following this link: http://www.sarg.net.au/adoptapet.html
* Due to legislation in Victoria, Odin must always be kept on a leash and wear a muzzle when outside of a completely fenced area, but that certainly won't detract from his handsome looks! And he certainly doesn't need to wear a muzzle when reclining on the couch!
Medical notes
Odin is desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated and wormed.
Heartworm test = negative (commenced Heartgard).
DOB: 17/05/10.
Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
