Sasha(1) (On Trial 22/12/13)

Sasha is an 18-month old Border Collie x cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who has had one owner since being a pup. Unfortunately due to health reasons Sasha's family had to make the hard decision to re-home her.

Sasha is exploding with love of life and all people and is still learning to contain her enthusiasm and not jump, she absolutely LOVES children and will seek them out as soon as she hears their little voices, yet needs to learn that the little ones don't love her jumping on them. She loves to be with her family members and tends to follow them around the house, with encouragement she is learning that she can sit on her mat and relax and just watch the going ons.

She has been an inside/ outside dog so respects being out in the yard and will quietly relax on her bed until she is invited back in. Sasha has always been an only dog, yet has spent her time in foster care with a range of dogs and other animal friends. She chooses a human lap over a doggy cuddle, yet with also run and play fetch and tug-o-war with the other dogs. She is not dominant at all and will slink off if she feels the other dogs are not happy with her or each other, she will however stand up for herself if another dog threatens her and she feels cornered so would not be suited to an overly dominant dog.

Sasha has a full rough collie coat and therefore needs frequent grooming and bathing, she is however a pleasure to bath and stands still while she is washed. She has shown keen interest in our rabbit and his cage, although respected the voice command to 'leave it', yet would probably be best not left with pocket pets unattended. We have a cat, yet she has not had any significant close experiences with her, yet I would guess she may enjoy a chase.

When outside she unleashes her natural collie and loves to run, she needs to be exercised regularly as she does identify with her collie needs in regard to liking a run and play and will play fetch all day if you have the time, yet the cavy in her makes her identify as a lap dog when not over-stimulated and after a good play.
